Built in 1989 for Milnerton Player’s Dramatic Society, the Milnerton Playhouse is a small intimate theatre situated behind the library complex in Pienaar Road, Milnerton.
It took ten years of lobbying the (then) Milnerton council for the venu to be built. It was initially a bare shell with the most basic of necessities. Every item of equipment, from stage flooring, seats, flats for sets, stage curtains, lighting & sound and upgrades over the years has been installed by the effort and money to equip the theatre of many dedicated members. It is now a venue much envied by other amateur dramatic societies of the Cape Peninsula.
Since the theatre opened, numerous in-house productions have been staged including dramas, comedies, thrillers, musicals and revues. Many of which have received nominations and awards at the annual Cape Times Awards for Amateur Theatre.
